sort of survived microb and patho ca. i always feel very unjustified after the papers; mug so much for so little result...ah well...

celebrated aishu's 20th bday in a very...innovative way at holland v swensons. huren tricked her into believing she was going to be interviewed as a medical student for some vasantham central programme, then got a whole bunch of her friends to go over and surprise her. susan's cousin pretended to be the interviewer and managed to ask her some really ridiculous questions like "what do you think about arranged marriages?" before we creeped up on her at "so was it squamous cell or small cell carcinoma". the poor dear is so innocent! and gullible. think she enjoyed herself though.

thomas came home for the first time since getting ride of all that excess alpha keratin. he looks okay acutally, but hair was definitely an asset in his case. mum cooked curry, chicken soup and apple sauce salmon just for him. stocked up on those expensive sweet japanese apples and tangerines as well. haha, there are some side benefits to having a kid brother in the bmt. had to help mum wash and dry all his gross army stuff though. urgh.

the weather's been quite dreary recently. not very spiritually uplifting...rain rain go away...

sent my baby bro into pulau tekong for bmt this morning. the place looks like a chalet. they gave us a brief tour then we had to sit through this propaganda video/talk thing and the boys' oath taking. don't know why the army has to pander so much to the parents' concerns; seriously most of those kids could do with the growing up. anyway, they'll be sleeping on king koil beds, eating catered food (they don't even have to wash their dishes after that!), wearing soft leather boots, goretex raincoats and dragging trolley bags. not to mention the airconditioned annex room with a pool table and dart board. learning to prepare for war sure is different from what i thought it'd be. well, i guess there's still all the horrible tiring training part we don't get to see.

had lunch at bmtc - pepper chicken with rice, fries, bread, baked beans and corn. oh, there was mushroom soup and a pear to go along as well. actually it was on par with the stuff they serve at yusoff ishak canteen. not sure whether that speaks volumes either about the standard of food in the army or nus. after that we abandoned thomas to his ritual loss of hair and went back to civilization. don't really feel his absence yet; the boys were made to call their family this evening. plus he'll be back on monday evening for hari raya. can't wait to see his funky new haircut!!

in other news...school's starting all too soon. microb and patho ca on monday. sniffle. i don't wanna go to school!!! wahhh!!!!

it's the year of the 21st birthdays!

started with pearlly's party way up north on the 29th of dec 2005. quite a large group of med ppl. took a lift from wenxian and watched some of the boys being dunked into the pool. had to share a car back with 2 of them on the way back - jingxiang and chengyu. at least i got the front seat.

went to rasa sentosa (Shangri La) to celebrate yiming's bday just now. crazy party filled with people i don't know. stuck around sarah and amanda most of the evening. it was such a drizzly day. hope you had a wonderful celebration anyway dear!

it's 2006!

spent the new year countdown watching chronicles of narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. had a very interesting dinner at jack's place in great world city before that. they gave us these cute party hats and party popper thingys. spent a whole lot of time taking silly photos with the family...haha...the crayfish was quite good but the chicken nothing to shout about. it was a decent set meal for $30; guess everywhere's expensive on new year's eve. but i suppose it's the company the matters right?

hope the new year brings peace, love and joy to all!!! ;)
