11:29 PM

today was filled with plenty of surprises.

everyone went to school for all of ONE hour because benny tan decided we could revise antibiotics on our own and happily didn't turn up for his lecture. we got one more hour of our life to ourselves, but i did feel a bit cheated.

the moment i drove home mum and tom hopped into the car and off we went to rent tom's costume for his prom on 1st dec. he contemplated the pope outfit for a while but it was just a touch too blasphemous even as a joke. rented the gladiator/troy outfit in the end. my brother in a skirt. and bicycle tights.

the evening was spent in the esplanade with zhongyang watching 'twist of fate'. musicals make me happy. the good plot and lovely singing helped as well. not to mention the jokes. i love the inspector's character; there's just something about sarcastic englishmen that's so...attractive??? *cough* i just happen to appreciate sardonic humour. *innocent eyes*

it was made an even better experience when we were bumped up to circle 1 seats for free even though we'd booked for circle 2. guess there weren't that many people dying to watch a play on tuesday night. after the show we waited outside the stage door to meet laura michelle kelly, the 'mary poppins woman'. she's really sweet in real life. shorter and thinner than she appears on stage as well. but very pretty. she signed zy's mary poppins cd and our programmes (which only cost $2!! yeah!!) what a wonderful way to end the night.

why is it people always know what they should do and yet they don't do it?!?

for example, there was this idiotic couple at the src pool flirting in lane 6. since i assumed they'd do some actual swimming, i, and the rest of the world, decided to leave them alone and go to other lanes instead. and guess what??? at peak swimming hour, when the pool was literally swarming with people, they had to take up one whole lane just to chat each other up! and they didn't swim a lap the whole time i was there!!!! just occupied the space like a pair of cancerous lesions. people do actually swim at a swimming pool you know...anyway, couldn't resist irritating them a little at the end of my swim. crossed over to their lane and did 2 more laps just so i could somersault between the 2 of them. hope they got the hint. *evil grin*

human relationships are complex. that's why people generally keep their noses out of things that have nothing to do with them and that they don't really understand. or should.

and then there was the completely ataxic individual in my lane who couldn't decide which side of the lane/swimming stroke/speed at which he wanted to swim. everytime i edged closer to him, he had to speed up so that i was forced to wait or cut between him and ernest. i'm not that big, but i can't pass through paper-thin spaces either. basically, it's a terrible idea to swim between 4.30pm to 7pm.

growing up is hard. but we're all in it together my dears.

thought this was cute...

At a certain age we must re-learn the alphabet:

A is for Apple, and B is for Boat,
That used to be right, But now it won't float!
Age before Beauty is what we once said,
but let's be a bit more realistic instead.

Now .......

A's for arthritis; B's the bad back,
C is the chest pains,perhaps car-d-iac?
D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
F is for fissures and fluid retention,
G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.
H is high blood pressure--I'd rather it low;
I for incisions with scars you can show.
J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,
K is for knees that crack wh en they bend.
L for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forget ! what comes next
N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;
O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!
P for prescription's, I have quite a few,
just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!
Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
R for reflux, one meal turns to two
S for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
T for Tinnitus; there's bells in my ears!
U is for urinary; big troubles with flow;
V is for vertigo, that's "dizzy," you know.
W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?
X is for X ray, and what might be found.
Y is another year I'm left here behind,
Z is for zest that I still have-- in my mind.

I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed,
And I've kept twenty-six 'doctors' fully employed!!!.

i have looked death in the face (flesh??), consumed it, and survived!!! muahaha...for now at least. think noting this momentous event down is a good enough reason for reviving this defunct blog. well, basically, i just ate 2 paper thin slices of fugu sashimi, and so far i haven't collapsed from acute respiratory failure. i think that's a pretty good sign that i'll live through the experience. honestly though, the pufferfish didn't taste all that great; it was sort of like chewy tasteless sotong. it's probably the adrenaline rush that comes of possibly imminent death that gives it such desirability. the sea urchin sashimi on the otherhand, was pure, unadulterated, cholesterol-laden, delicious sin. the sweetness of the orange flesh as it melts in your mouth...heavenly... the prawn was lovely as well; almost as sweet with a rather firmer texture. basically the whole dinner was a treat for the palate. thank you so much charles!! have really got to treat you back soon.

met crystal lawrence from my sec 1 & 2 class at dinner. haha, singapore is tiny all right. she looks just the same. and duanna had the most striking gray contact lenses. XD as usual it was really refreshing to hear the perspectives of people outside of medfac, or even nus. always opens my eyes to how vast the world really is, and just how naive i still am. the bed's still full of roses, but the thorns sure are getting prickly.

watched harry potter and the goblet of fire with chris before going to concourse. it was a good movie in the sense that it was entertaining and thrilling and all, but... i don't know...kokwei feels that it seems to be missing the ethereal quality of the first 2 movies. i guess i agree. and dumbly-dore is waaayyy too bouncy in this movie. though tom felton....is still just... *drool*.......................
