11:34 PM

the weekend was another mad rush followed by a stretch of boredom...

went to union square to salsa with haihan and the hc counselors on friday. it's different from xen...has more of a clubbing atmosphere about it. i guess all the cigarette smoke might have something to do with that. nearly aphyxiated from passive smoking! still, it was good to dance again. and i met gerard from attitude there too. every lead is different; it didn't help that my skills are so half-baked. but i definitely had a good time.

saturday: learnt to sign the national pledge at the singapore association for the deaf with ernest. had a short introduction to sign language as well. if i have time i think i'll go for the proper classes. rushed over to uncle john's for borah's confirmation celebration at about 9pm then off to a night wake till 12.30am...

today was my rest day. came home from church and bummed around since the siblings have to study for their common tests next week. school is starting for them again. muahahaha...went over to j8 with mum in the evening to burn off some excess energy. i don't know why i can't sit still these days.

11:59 PM

happy birthday jerm!!! you're all of 14 now. my baby bro is growing up. sniff.

went on a pants shopping spree with mum and jerm in the morning before having lunch with daddy and lai-e at ding tai feng. went to ice skate with jerm at jurong entertainment centre after that. i do NOT recommand going within a mile of the ice skating ring during the school holidays. it's impossible to skate at a decent speed without running over assorted children/beginners. in the end we only moved round and round like hamsters for about an hour and a half before our nerves frayed completely.

a coq and bull story:
had dinner at the above mentioned restaurant. it's below some shophouses in hillcrest road just past nj. mum remembered some sales rep telling her how good the steak was so we decided to give it a try. the food was excellent; 2 large pieces of scallop in the shellfish bisque, beef wellington - sirloin steak wrapped in foie gras and pastry...argh cholesterol levels shooting up... for dessert there was cookies and cream ice cream cake from swensons...we had an absolutely delicious time! the service is good too - the staff carried the cake in singing happy birthday and were very patient when recommanding the numerous types of beef to us plebians. the only gripe i have is the price of the food (don't ask!). but i suppose once, or twice, in a while, an extravagant dinner really hits the spot.

12:51 AM

random thoughts by random people doing random acts while leading their random lives...

true love only exists in movies. and books. and assorted magazines. but ashton kutcher in 'a lot like love' is a good subsitute! *far off look*

1:22 AM

pasta in olive oil with garlic and onions, black pepper roasted chicken, greek salad and chocolate fudge-pudding thingy with vanilla ice cream and strawberries...oh dear this blog is becoming like daniel's europe travelogue. except with much better food.

my social circle has expanded yet again! haha, it was fun to mess around in the kitchen trying to wing the dessert because the oven kept tripping. we had to microwave the chocolate batter in the end. 7 minutes at fruit cake setting. lucky it turned out...perfect... :)

12:00 AM

happy father's day!

to my daddy...you'll always be the most important man in my life...

we went to shashlik to eat; i had borsch soup(something like goulash but smaller?), rainbow trout and alaska (ice cream dessert). delicious food, lovely ambience...pity the service wasn't quite as good as yesteryear. but it was a wondrful indulgence nonetheless.

1:03 AM

foc went by in a blur! i guess that was mainly because i kept disappearing to meet people outside nus throughout the camp. still had lots of fun though. and got to know plenty of nice new people like my soon-to-be juniors brenda and sherlyn. it was also wonderful to meet up with last year's amor-ites again - sharon, greg, nat, marilyn, ian, dyan, alexis...

left nus with chris at about 3 to meet chief and wenxian at my house. mum cooked some oxtail soup which made an excellent linner/dunch. chris and wenxian then spent about 3 hours playing table tennis with jerm, claire and dad. i'm terrible at games that have the word 'tennis' in them. disastrous pe lessons...shudder...anyway, alvin our ever industrious chief was hard at work while the rest of us were slacking. hope we didn't neglect you :)

the food always seems particularly good when we have guests. black chicken soup, chawanmushi, salmon with apple sauce, black bean paste chicken, spinach with abalone sauce... i really really really missed mummy's cooking when i was in europe!

dad and mum seem to like having my friends over. they say it keeps them young. and my sibs conspire with outsiders to make embarrassing pictures of me. i have a strange family.

11:35 PM

europe was mad! 21 days...11 cities...walking and travelling and going down cliffs in sandals and skirts...the joy of youth.

this week was packed too; watched mr and mrs smith and batman begins with the eurotrippers. we kept planning for madagascar but it just didn't seem to work out. anyway, there's also css foc...rush rush...
